I have an extensive background in theatrical costuming as well as education instruction. My own work focuses on fabric-based costumes with complicated patterning, intricate details and original designs but I am interested in all areas of cosplay. Additionally, I create educational sewing content in print, social media and YouTube. I love “talking shop” with folks that I meet at events and enjoy interacting with kids (I have extensive experience working with various charity cosplay groups in the Chicagoland area).
Education & outreach
I enjoy teaching at all levels and group size! I am comfortable onstage and can lead panels or workshops on a wide range of topics through PowerPoint or in-person demos and enjoy helping folks learn, gain confidence and grow their skill sets.

Due to my background in education and costume design, I can give kind, valuable, and professional insight as a judge and have an excellent eye for the quality of construction techniques in all areas of costume making, including original design and out-of-this-world categories. I am adept at looking beyond the surface finish to accurately and fairly evaluate a competition piece as well as offer kind encouragement to competitors.
